Indians of North America--Biography (Internet School Library Media Center). Native American authors page includes biographies, online e-texts and critical reviews of selected authors.

Native American Authors (Internet Public Library). Provides information on Native North American authors with bibliographies of their published works, biographical information, and links to online resources including interviews, online texts, and tribal websites.

North American Native Authors Catalog (Greenfield Review Press). Commercial site offers short biographies and bibliographies of Native American authors and allows you to purchase books online.

Storytellers: Native American Authors Online (Karen M. Strom). Collection of sites offering biographies and bibiliographies of contemporary Native American authors.

Voices From the Gaps: Indigenous/Native American Women Writers (U Minnesota). Provides biographical, critical and bibliographical information on selected Native American women writers.



News & History Resources


H-AMINDIAN's FYI: Today's News (Arizona State U). Excerpts from current newspaper articles covering Native American news and events. Also includes an archive.

Indian Country Today. Online version of weekly newspaper covering national news and events related to Indian Country.

The Native American Experience (Troy Johnson, California State U, Long Beach). A comprehensive collection of historical photographs of Native American people arranged chronologically from the prehistoric period to 1990. Narrative is provided on the historical and cultural background of the event, person, or subject represented.

The Native American History Archive (Institute of Learning Technologies, Teachers College, Columbia U). Archive of online resources on Native American history. Includes a navigator with timeline, map of tribe locations, topics guide, and search engine, as well as a links to resources for selected tribes.

On This Date In North American Indian History (Phil Konstantin). Lists over 3000 historical events which happened to or affected the indigenous peoples of North America.



Online Journals & E-mail Discussion Lists


Aboriginal Voices. Magazine aimed at providing access to information and media content which portrays Native current affairs, history, culture and aspirations from a positive Aboriginal perspective. Includes an online archive of selected articles from past issues.

Gohweli: A Journal of Native Literatures (U Wisconsin, Milwaukee). An on-line, peer reviewed journal for the study of American Indian and Alaska Native literatures.

H-AMINDIAN@h-net.msu.edu. Moderated electronic forum for scholars, journalists, community representatives, policymakers, and activists with a professional interest in the histories and cultures of North American Indians. Includes e-mail discussion list, archives of message logs, select discussion threads, book reviews, and recommended reading lists.

NATIVELIT-L@ukans.edu (Jeannie Lugo, U. Kansas). Unmoderated e-mail list for the discussion of Native American literature and many other topics related to Native American cultures.

Pimohtewin: A Native Studies E-Journal (U. Alberta). Primarily a forum for premier undergraduate papers. Also features previews and reviews of work done by professors. Includes interactive Bulletin Board for debating and discussing current issues in the field of Native Studies.

Studies in American Indian Literatures (SAIL). Provides an archive of articles from the association's newsletter (1977-87).

Examines American Indian literature and cultures, focusing on particular regions and considering contemporary literary production in relation to the oral tradition and the artistic and cultural traditions of the tribes living in those regions.
