DejaNews (Deja.com, Inc.) -- a searchable collection of the archives of various web newsgroups.

Web Resources by Subject (Davidson Library) -- links to pages of web links organized by subject or study area.

*** Abstract and Indexing Services (California Digital Library) -- a one-stop shopping site for searching Pegasus, Melvyl and a list of electronic journals, which also includes options for requesting articles through Interlibrary Loan. This multitude of services can also be viewed by subject area.

***Electronic Journals by Subject (California Digital Library) -- links to online journals organized by subject.

***Periodicals Contents Index (Chadwyck-Healey Ltd) -- index to contents of periodicals in the humanities and social sciences, easily searchable.

The Argus Clearinghouse (Argus Associates, Inc) -- organized by subject area, this site provides information and links to specialized pages of links.

Web Indexing and Search Tools (Davidson Library) -- links to web search engines and subject collections on the web.

General Access

***The On-Line Books Page (John Mark Ockerbloom) -- a collection of over 9,000 full-text books online, searchable by author, title or keywords.

***Bartleby Library ( ) -- searchable collection of books online with links to archived books and an online collection of American and English poetry from 1250-1920.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Jeremy Hylton) -- searchable collection of works with links to glossary, discussion areas, Shakespeare web resources, and a brief discussion of editing issues.

Electronic Text Center (UVa) -- although some access is restricted to UVa users only, this is a small but helpful collection of less well-known materials.

Renascence Editions (University of Oregon) -- a collection of online texts dating from 1477 to 1799.

    2. Hypertext Literature (annotated catalogue of representative works of hypertext fiction, poetry, and theory in a variety of media, both offline and online works; includes a guide to the Transcription studio's library of publications by the Eastgate company)
