Assessment

This page contains the grading policy for the course as well as online questionnaires and forms that help the instructor assess student progress on the team project, the level of student technological equipment and skills, and other matters.

In addition, students get to assess the course through an online exit survey. The survey concentrates on student views of the technological side of the course and its integration with course content (standard university Scantron forms will be used for student evaluation of the course as a whole).

Grading Policy

The team project will count for 40% of the final grade, the short paper for 20%, and the final paper for 40%, class participation (quizzes, discussion) for 20%. Poor individual effort on the team projects and class participation may lower your grade, while excellence in these areas can raise your grade.

Regular attendance is required. Three or more absences after the first week of the course (without medical or other pressing reasons) will automatically subtract from the final grade.

Papers turned in late without a previously approved extension will be graded down.

Course Entrance Survey (please fill out this online form ASAP to register your E-mail address with the course discussion group and to provide other relevant information about your computing equipment, software, and experience)
Weekly Project Log (After Class 9, this log sheet must be submitted by Monday of each week for the previous week's activities on the team project. See Assignments: Schedule of Project Tasks)
Course Exit Survey [under construction]

This online form supplements the course-evaluation questionnaires at the end of the quarter by providing the instructor with a detailed view of your experience with the technological side of the course.
